Edsential’s Artists And Authors programme is an exciting opportunity to work flexibly with a creative practitioner to enrich curriculum delivery, support skills development and embed a creative culture across your school. The provision can be online, in person or a blended approach to suit your requirements. Art Ed- A US resource that gathers studies examining the academic, cognitive, personal, social, and civic outcomes for students of arts education. The first, the Regional Arts and Education Network, provides a way for schools and arts organisations to share best practice and find partnerships.

  • If you’re invited to interview, you may be asked to bring a small portfolio of work as a starting point for discussion, comprising of either current or past practice.

Every year Tate Modern hosts ASSEMBLY, a special event for around 1500 London school students and their teachers. The students are invited to occupy, explore and take part in activities in Tate’s Blavatnik building and Turbine hall – which are closed to all other visitors. BCUIC is part of the global Navitas Group, an internationally recognised education provider, and the partnership allows students to access the University’s facilities and services and move seamlessly through to achieving a Bachelor’s degree from Birmingham City University. This module will explore publishing as a dynamic contemporary art form, a vehicle for the dissemination of ideas and an exploration of radical formats for bringing your art to a wider public. You will be introduced to artist-made books, self-publishing, digital publishing and other non-gallery modes of sharing and communicating art.

Placements are one of the possible ways of fulfilling your modules and many of our students have chosen this route. There is scope for placements with a number of organisations in the city and beyond, however it is your responsibility to plan and organise your placement with the organisation you wish to work with. The MA Arts and Education Practices has a significant international reputation with alumni in over 20 countries worldwide, with strong educational profiles and working in a range of institutions and organisations. Student research projects We enable, explore and curate critical processes that effect social change through a variety of ways and means. Taught jointly by the Departments of Anthropology and Social, Therapeutic and Community Studies, this MA offers a stimulating synthesis of theory and practice.

A US study exploring how high-quality and integrated arts education programme adds value to school-wide reform. Evaluates and illustrates how 44 schools used creative approaches to learning, together with the impact on pupils’ achievement and personal development. Celc demonstrates how the creative arts can provide stimulating and rich opportunities for learners while meeting the requirements of The Literacy and Numeracy Framework.

Information For International Students

Our resources do not follow prescriptive outcomes, instead we believe the role of the teacher is to introduce key skills, materials and ideas to the pupils in such a way that each pupil can then explore his or her own creativity. Each class and individuals within the class will naturally explore at his or her own level. Fundamental exercises can be experienced by all ages, and repeated by all ages, as part of their practice. There is no need for a “progression of activity” as such – children will naturally progress once they have repeated access to a material, process or concept. Studying art and design at school opens the door to a range of careers in the creative industries.


Studying an MA will help you to pursue or develop your career in a range of related professions across the educational sector and creative industries. This course will help to enhance your skillset and employability and either progress in your existing role or achieve your career ambitions in a new direction. Normally a first degree or its equivalent in an appropriate subject, and/or previous or concurrent experience in the arts and/or education.
