It should refer to all aspects of an organisation’s activities, including the artistic and educational programming, management and staffing, location and resources, finances, marketing and development. Picking the programme is the first step in your performing arts and music career! Whether you choose a full-time study programme and pick your own specialism, or apply to study a university level programme, we’re sure to have something that suits you and your learning style. Deal Music & Arts has been bringing the best in arts and culture to East Kent for nearly 40 years, and in that time we have welcomed many of the world’s greatest artists. Over those years, we have evolved from a summer festival to a year-round organisation that maintains that vibrant festival and supports a series of education programmes.

The biggest thing that all drama, musical theatre, acting, dance and music students have in common is the desire to perform, rehearse and perform some more! Our students are always performing in our fully equipped theatre and at venues across Sheffield, using our TV and dance studios, recording studios and rehearsal spaces to bring their visions to life. 1-to-1 sessions run throughout the academic year with an instrumental tutor for one hour per week . The focus is on the development of your musical voice in appropriate repertoire both independently and in a group context within which you may be required to take a leadership role. Workshop sessions explore the theory, principles and practices of live sound engineering and recording. This will consist of safely setting up and running PA systems for performance and effectively utilising the Digital Audio Workstation setup to produce demo quality work.

This will enable you to develop your own specialist practice you need for working within this dynamic sector. Develop an expertise in a business relevant to your musical interest and discover opportunities for industry based internships and graduate placements. It’s a well-known secret that some of the greatest musicians studied music at arts school. Some of our best-known original thinkers and innovators have developed their musical creativity in an inspiring environment that allowed them to think differently. Whichever you choose, we’ll challenge you to come up with imaginative solutions to creative briefs, and encourage you to explore the theory behind your practice.

  • You’ll also collaborate with students from our film, television, marketing and performance courses to build a diverse network and an impressive portfolio.

  • Much of the module will be devoted specifically to the Soviet period, to the ‘socialist realism’ rules in creative arts.
  • Bookings are open for The Big Sing – an interactive musical experience with Ula Weber and Suzzi Vango.
  • Practical workshop sessions will enable you to put theory into practice, collaborate in ensembles exploring a broad range of styles, and create music that stretches your technical and stylistic boundaries.

Assessment through a placement report will concentrate on analysing and commenting on the ‘culture’ of management in the organisation framed by an understanding of theory organisational culture. Work placements while being tailored to student needs and that of the host organisations will be of roughly 3 months duration for 2-3 days a week. The second section of the module will provide an introduction to cultural policy models and cultural policies in other European countries, and the structures and priorities that govern arts support. It will look in particular at the situation in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland as well as the specific issues facing arts policymakers in Central and Eastern Europe. Reference will also be made to the role of the European Union in cultural policy development.

The module will also study issues raised by the musical notations employed by composers since c. 1950 and by improvisers in different fields who have rejected Western musical notation as a tool. The module provides opportunity for composers to experiment and engage with different types of notation in a practical setting. All levels of Arts Award involve a degree of participation, reflection and gathering evidence appropriate to the level. Evidence can be provided by children and young people in a wide range of formats including written evidence and/or illustrations; blogs; social media; audio and visual recording; as well as Makaton, signs and symbols. We offer free resources to support evidencing Arts Award, and centres can develop their own methods.
